SUMMARY:Ann Rosén [SE]
DESCRIPTION:Since her MFA in 1988 at Konstfack\, Ann Rosén has worked professionally as an artist. Early in her career\, she became interested in using sound as material\, and since the 1990s her artistic focus has been on sound art and music.\nAnn Rosén’s works have been exhibited or performed at venues ranging from the Royal Swedish Opera to clubs in Berlin. Rosén’s oeuvre includes social sculptures\, choreographic works\, spatial representations\, sound art\, choral works\, sound installations\, video\, sculpted silence\, performance\, and art music. In her artistic process\, she explores interpersonal relationships and our relationships with the world around us. Her art can easiest be described as the consequence of an action. \nIn her ongoing project “Drawing Session” Ann Rosén has created a series of works where pencil drawings are the instrument itself. The lines turn into sound when drawn live. In her “Candela”\, tea lights are used to create the music.\nAnn Rosén’s latest works are the graphic and video scores; “Between” composed for the ensemble Kwartludium (PL)\, “Recycling the Work Process” and “Livstycke” composed for electronics and instruments by choice. Performed by Sofia Jernberg\, Anna Lindal violin\, Linn Persson saxophone and Lise-Lotte Norelius electronics.\nShe currently runs the international ensemble The Barrier Orchestra. Previously\, she had the trio Syntjuntan\, who played on sewn textile synthesizers. \nBeside her own artistic work\, she runs the scene Schhh Vardagsrummet in the Swedish countryside together with Sten-Olof Hellström\, as well as the record company Schhh Records\, publishing company Schhh Publishing and the Schhh Artist Residency. \n  \nLinks:\nhttps://annrosen.se/\nhttps://schhh.se/ \n  \nNote: All guests must be 20 years or older and have a valid ID \nAnn Rosén shares the venue and night with Ryoko Akama. SUMMARY:Terese Lien Evenstad Quintet [SE]
DESCRIPTION:Renowned for their innovative blend of clarinet and violin\, TLEQ has released three albums with modern jazz\, including their latest\, Movement\, on the German label Berthold Records. This album received widespread acclaim\, with Orkesterjournalen praising it as “a special and unique album” (2023)\, and Opulens Magazine describing it as “a primal force with improvisational freedom” (2023). The album was also noted for its “vital and dense modern Nordic Jazz of high quality\, with a distinct and appealing group sound” by Sydsvenskan (2023). \nThe success of Movement earned TLEQ a nomination for Sweden’s largest independent music award ”Manifestgalan” in the ”Jazz of the Year” category for 2024. TLEQ’s distinctive sound has taken them on tours across Germany\, India\, Norway\, and Sweden\, with performances at prestigious venues such as the Stockholm Jazz Festival (Sweden)\, Victoria National Jazz Scene in Oslo (Norway)\, B-flat Jazz Club in Berlin (Germany) and Leela Palace in Bangalore (India). \nListening to TLEQ is like walking through a vast landscape—one moment you’re swept up in the wild winds of energy\, the next you’re standing still\, captivated by a single\, fragile note that resonates like a whispered secret. At the heart of TLEQ’s music is the fearless creativity and compositions of Terese Lien Evenstad and Alexander Ivarsson\, who blend traditional jazz with modern influences to create a fresh\, authentic sound. \n \nIn recognition of her work with TLEQ\, Terese Lien Evenstad was awarded a scholarship from Västra Götalandsregionen in 2024\, with the motivation: ”When Terese Lien Evenstad’s violin playfully navigates the chord progressions of the jazz tradition\, it might catch us off guard—improvised violin is rare in the genre. Yet\, her skill and fearless musicality have earned her national recognition. Whether performing with others or leading her own quintet\, her sound is not just fresh and exciting; it’s downright addictive.” \n \nTogether with pianist Fabian Kallerdahl\, bassist Arvid Jullander\, drummer Johan Birgenius\, and clarinetist Alexander Ivarsson\, Terese Lien Evenstad forms a band that touches the listener with expressive violin jazz as a signature. \n \nA concert by Utopia in collaboration with Göteborg Art Sounds. This is also the concert marking the end of the “main days” of Göteborg Art Sounds. Come hang out!“ \nLinks: \nhttps://tereselienevenstad.com/
