SUMMARY:Göteborgs Symfoniker – The Mighty Sound of Organ and Orchestra [SE]
DESCRIPTION:Organist Christian Schmitt handles the cheeky organ part in Poulenc’s concerto with the same skill as in Barber’s Toccata Festiva – masterfully. In Poulenc’s self-assured and cheeky Organ Concerto\, he allows the magnificent sounds to play freely\, in an equally serious and derisory manner\, in the very style of the French composer himself. Poulenc’s contemporary colleague\, the American composer Samuel Barber\, is known for his romantic sensitivity\, but in his Toccata Festiva for Organ and Orchestra he also displays a cheerful and high-spirited side to his music\, which rushes forward in pure exhilaration. \nThis evening’s program also includes Bruckner’s Symphony No. 1\, in which it is possible to discern the familiar characteristics\, with chords and reverberations\, which remind us of the composer’s earlier career as an organist. His first symphony was in actual fact his third (the previous two were called No. 0 and No. 00!)\, and it is truly a genuine Bruckner\, lighter in step than his later heavier compositions\, and a reminder that the composer was once a young man. Even in his earliest symphonies it is possible to discern the familiar characteristics that would gain clearer contours with the passing years. \nThis sound feast is led with the confident hand of Christoph Eschenbach\, former first guest conductor at Göteborgs Symfoniker. \nThe concert is presented in collaboration with Göteborg International Organ Festival and Göteborgs Konserthus. \n  \nTickets \nhttps://tickets.gso.se/sv/buyingflow/tickets/6510/32699/ \n  \nLinks: \nhttps://gso.se

SUMMARY:Herman Müntzing [SE] presents MORF 1
DESCRIPTION:On October 16\, Herman will lead a workshop with the students of Kulturskolan Askim-Frölunda-Högsbo. The starting point for the workshops is his piece MORF1\, that will later be presented for the audience at Frölunda kulturhus. For the concert\, Herman will be joined on stage by six students from Högskolan för Scen och Musik and Kulturskolan Askim-Frölunda-Högsbo respectively\, saxophonist Jonny Wartel and pianist Karin Johansson as well as Peter Hogenäs\, teacher at Högskolan för Scen och Musik. \nAbout MORF 1 \nMORF 1 is a piece in which the course of events is defined by instructions written on \ncards. Each card presents instructions to follow and implement in a sonic action. The piece puts focus on improvisation and intuitive sonic communication\, on the balance between individuality and adaptation\, slow process of change\, and openness concerning content and shape. The piece offers a possibility of polyphonic\, intricate fabric of sounds with the instructions from the cards individually interpreted by the participants. The shape of the piece is totally connected to the unique mix of participants during the current event. MORF 1 refers to no specific genre and welcomes everyone with interest in intuitive and spontaneous sonic collaboration\, with a strive towards community and togetherness. \nSince the creation of the piece in 2005\, MORF 1 has been performed on numerous occasions\, and with very different ensembles. With professional musicians and with amateurs\, on prestigious festivals for experimental music as well as small jazz clubs\, art galleries\, private living rooms\, museums\, art- and music academies. \n  \nAbout Herman Müntzing \nHerman Müntzing is an experimental and improvising musician and composer from Baskemölla\, Sweden\, who prefers to treat and mistreat different kinds of acoustic and electric objects whenever and wherever it is appropriate. His musical world embraces sounds produced by “normal” musical instruments as well as short-circuit video-mixers\, children toys\, found objects and slowly rolling ping-pong balls. He is also the creator of 12 stringed experimental instrument “Flexichord” built out of strings and pickups from 2 electric guitars attached to a piece of massive wood. He performs concerts and workshops mainly in Europe\, due to a stubborn decision about never ever traveling by airplane. So he travels mostly by train\, performing solo and with groups\, with various musicians from the “improv-scene” and with people who don’t even consider themselves being musicians. \nThis concert is a collaboration with Brötz\, Högskolan för Scen och Musik and Kulturskolan Askim-Frölunda-Högsbo. \n  \nLinks:\nhttps://www.hermanmuntzing.com/index.html

SUMMARY:Hampus Lindwall interprets Minor Daemon [SE]
DESCRIPTION:About Hampus Lindwall \nHampus Lindwall is a musical artist active in many fields ranging from contemporary classical to experimental and electronic music. He is known as an organ performer of contemporary and 20th century music and as a creative improviser & composer. \nBorn (1976) in Stockholm\, Hampus Lindwall grew up playing the electric guitar in various rock\, metal & jazz bands. He started playing keyboards in his late teens and studied the organ at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm. He gives concerts throughout Europe\, in the U.S.A.\, Canada and China. \nAbout Minor Daemon \nSet in a surreal dystopia that feels like the deranged fever-dream of Hieronymus Bosch if he grew up on 4chan\, the film traces the intersecting fortunes of two young men\, Billy and Minor Daemon\, who share an extraordinary gift for virtual reality gaming.  Billy\, a spoiled frat boy\, is the top dog at an elite prep school. Minor Daemon\, abandoned at birth\, is a guileless asthmatic raised in a child labour compound. After a nightmarish sequence of events\, the two are incarcerated at the same supermax penitentiary. They join forces and catapult their VR prison team to the league championships\, where a victory will secure their freedom. After a devastating defeat in the grand finals\, the two men then plan an intricate escape. Billy ends up betraying Minor Daemon during a bungled prison break\, and flees to a remote pleasure planet. There Billy climbs the ladder of an intergalactic criminal underworld\, as Minor Daemon suffers through the horrors of prison life. When he’s finally released years later\, Minor Daemon\, obsessed with vengeance\, tracks Billy down to the violent alien planet. In a place where dreams are paid for in blood\, Billy and Daemon face-off in an ultimate showdown that will seal their fate. \nThe concert is presented in collaboration with Göteborg International Organ Festival and Göteborgs Symfoniker. \nLinks: \nhttp://www.hampuslindwall.com/ \nhttps://jonrafman.com/ \n

SUMMARY:Gageego! with Rei Munakata [SE]
DESCRIPTION:György Ligeti – who would turn 100 in 2022 – is celebrated with his marvelous Ten Pieces for Wind Quintet and Karlheinz Stockhausen (1928-2007) with the iconic Zeitmasse\, the piece that brought serialism into the temporal dimension. But it’s also a celebration of future pioneers such as Swedish composer Madeleine Isaksson and her ingeniously layered weave of sounds and temporal lines in the piece Sondes. The fourth and final piece is the extensive and meditative This is One Small Stone in an Entire City of Monuments I am Building For You by American composer Joseph Lake. \nAbout Gageego!\nGageego! was founded in 1995 and specialises in exploring and making contemporary music more accessible. As one of the most important new forces in Music Sweden\, the ensemble is appreciated for interpreting today’s music at the highest technical and artistic level in a fun and curious way. \nAbout Rei Munakata\nBorn in Yokohama Japan\, Rei Munakata is a conductor and composer in the field of Classical modern music. Imaginative creativity\, experimental curiosity\, detailed handcraft\, and musical fluidity as the core\, Rei Munakata conducts and composes for chamber musicians\, ensembles\, orchestras\, instruments\, and sound objects all over the world. SUMMARY:Sonneurs & Hampus Lindwall [FR/SE]
DESCRIPTION:About Sonneurs\nWith Sonneurs\, artistic director Erwan Keravec – a highland bagpiper\, composer and improviser – wished to explore the possibility of extending his ambition beyond his own instrument. To achieve this\, he has set up a piping quartet that brings together the four instruments of the Breton piping tradition. Instrument wise\, the quartet is made up of the historic bombard\, the biniou koz\, the Scottish bagpipe\, which has become Breton over the last century\, and the trelombard\, invented to act as a counterpoint to the bombard and bagpipe. With these culturally-marked instruments\, this quartet is characterised by its raw sound\, rich tone colour\, continuous biniou and bagpipe resonance\, condensed spectrum and – obviously – powerful sound. \nAbout Hampus Lindwall\nHampus Lindwall is a musical artist active in many fields ranging from contemporary classical to experimental and electronic music. He is known as an organ performer of contemporary and 20th century music and as a creative improviser & composer. \nBorn (1976) in Stockholm\, Hampus Lindwall grew up playing the electric guitar in various rock\, metal & jazz bands. SUMMARY:Art of Spectra [SE] – In Your Head
DESCRIPTION:It is said that the hypnagogic jerk is the most common sign that the body has entered into a state between awake and sleep. Parts of the brain has fallen asleep while other parts are working at full speed.
